It’s so close, guys! My feelings about the impending weekend are like when you’ve dropped something underneath the refrigerator or a low cabinet and you stretch out as far as you can with you fingers brushing the edge of the object, and if you could just stretch a scant 1/2 inch more, you’d have it. That is what today feels like to me. The responsible adult part of me is getting things done and the more childish part of me is straining in her seat. Not that I have anything particularly special planned this weekend, but I have had a very tedious responsibility laden week and I want to shake it off and be a little lazy and less structured for a few days. Who knows, maybe even a touch reckless. Okay, probably not reckless, but you know what I mean. Are you as ready for the weekend as I am?

File this experience  under #lifegoals, I think it would make any woman’s day.

Creativity is important, and according to this article, something as simple as doodling can lead to a better and more mentally agile you.

I am all for Inst-worthy treats, but these NYC locations take things to a whole new level.

These quick and easy shortcakes are the perfect accompaniment to all the lovely summer fruit that has been showing up in the produce section.

While I am usually more of a color girl, this sedate rustic farmhouse looks so lovely and serene.

In addition to the shoes I featured earlier this week, you can add these satin lovelies to my wish list.

Baking can be stressful and the ingredients can be temperamental, here are some tips and tricks to help you get a better handle on some baking do’s and don’ts.

This summer will see me (hopefully) taking a series of small trips. To help me up my packing game, I am going to try to implement these 10 suggestions.

It’s going to be a good weekend, guys. You know why? Three things: french pastries, farmer’s market, and baby snuggles. BAM! Awesome weekend. Of course, there is more to it than that, but I am choosing to get excited about all the things I want to do and let those pesky little things I need to do take a back seat for a moment. I mean, baby snuggles, guys. They have the tiny fingers and toes, and they make the cutest faces! I love that I get to be an “aunt” to so many cool little ones.  As far as the pastry portion of things, I am not even sure it is possible to have a bad morning when you have a hot mug of tea and a delicate freshly baked something or other in your hand. I am becoming a bit of a Saturday morning regular, which is a good thing I think. I usually sit there enjoying my treat and fantasizing about being able to quit my responsible grown up job and spend a year or two learning how to make pastry magic. I’d even take the effort to learn a little french so I could pronounce everything correctly. What do you have planned for your weekend?

I managed to watch all of the first season of Anne with an E this week, and I absolutely adored it. Anne of Green Gables was one of my favorite stories growing up, and I really feel like this added so much more depth to the characters while remaining true the the essence of the original story.

Grilled Pepper and Mozzarella Panzanella? Sounds like a wonderful summer idea to me!

How cute are these tiny mouse shops by artist(s) Anonymouse MMX that are popping up in Malmö?

How gorgeous is the minimal vintage adorned abode? I would love to have a few of those pieces in my collection.

I think this bright DIY sprinkle pill would be a wonderful addition to any desk, and the sparkle fairy in me wonders if it would be even better filled with glitter instead.

Design blogs always leave you feeling like there is no way you can ever have a picture perfect pinterest party. I mean, who has a dozen different styles of flatware and props laying around? I LOVE that the ladies at Sugar & Cloth make this little cheat sheet for how to bring fun pop-y patterns into your next shindig on a budget.

I’ve always had a thing for old photos, and seeing some of the oldest color photos ever taken? Amazing.

My gardening skills are middling at best, but if I had more of a green thumb, I’d want a garden full of all these beautiful things.

First of all, how gorgeous is that tea glass? Most glamorous way to drink a hot beverage ever! I am hoping to enjoy some lazy tea sipping on this wonderfully long weekend. Among other things, mind you, but I am really hoping that since we have no travel plans and a whole extra day I can convince myself to really relax and invest a serious chunk of time into doing nothing. I still haven’t been able to shake off the deadline fatigue and it’s been a whole month! (Evidently, I am really feeling the exclamation points today.) I really need to work on this sleep thing, guys. I am 31, and I still can’t manage to keep a “reasonable” bed time. In part, it is because there is that little voice in the back of my mind saying “but if you go to sleep, you’ll have to wake up and go to work,” which is accurate, but much easier to accomplish with a extra hour or two of rest, but I digress. Here are some links to help you kick off your weekend 🙂

I make it to the beach maybe once a year, but I am really trying to find a way to justify the purchase of this mermaid appropriate pool float.

Also, mer-corgi!!!!

Changing my hair color is something I do regularly, but this lady has turned hair dying into an art form.

This DIY daisy choker is super cute, and I am sort of considering make some for certain gift giving occasions later this year.

The last couple of years have seen me having fewer late nights and a lot more brunches; it’s interesting to see that I’m not the only one who feels this way.

As you all know, I like to bake. Sometimes it’s funky, and sometimes I try a more sophisticated recipe. This Coffee Creme Fraiche Cheesecake makes me want to plan a fancy dinner party then eat cake with my pinky up.

One of the items on my checklist to a better self is establishing a routine that allows for maximum productivity; after reading this, I realize that I also need to make sure that this new me has plenty of self care time as well to keep things balanced.

This glitter ice cube tutorial lead to a bit of an argument, albeit a stupid one, between one of my friends and myself. I think it’s awesome; she thinks it gross. What do you guys think?

I’ve always been a fan of lots of color in home decor, but this feature on black has me thinking that maybe I’ve been wrong all these years.

And just like that, May is half over. It’s been a busy month so I know why it feels like it’s flown by, but I am hoping that things slow down and stretch out a bit this summer. I could definitely use a couple of months that can be taken at a more leisurely pace. Especially now that the thermostat is almost always over ninety. It’s the perfect time of year for pasty people, like yours truly, to sleep in and enjoy nice quiet days at home in the lovely air conditioning. I have a couple of minor renovation projects I’d like to get done, so now it’s just deciding if I want to go ahead and get them out of the way or relax now and reno later. All that being said though, I am sort of thinking about continuing the Saturday morning tradition I started when my mom was here. Which is wake up early so Andy can sleep in, take care of the diabetic cat, hit the farmers’ market as soon as it opens, and then reward myself with tea and a pastry at the French patisserie near by.

It’s Mother’s Day weekend! It a little bitter sweet for me, since it means my mom is heading home in a few short days. So we are going to try fill this weekend with as much last minute fun and shenanigans as possible. We owe so much to the women who shaped us and helped us grow. And to all of you mom’s out there, you guys are amazing and I have so much respect for you and the incredible job that you do every single day.
