Friday Link Love

Happy Friday, people. This week has had an jarringly jerky feel to it. Walk. Run. Stop. Run. Stop. Run. Walk. We started out in vacation mode in St. Augustine, then it was back to the office to play catch up and to make final travel plans for our Chicago trip next week. So much going on, a flurry that makes your head spin, and then a few hours of uneasy quiet while you wait for the next deluge to hit. As I write this, I have half a dozen search windows open looking for something to do this weekend. There is plenty of prep work to be done, but in my current mood, I’ll be climbing the walls if I don’t find a way to feel like I am moving, doing, accomplishing. We’ll see, I have some tentative plans for tomorrow that will keep me out of the house for a bit. Poor Andy is ready to bask in some peace and quiet with a few mindless hours of video games thrown in. We react to stress in opposite ways, and it has been one of the things I’ve had to be mindful of during our marriage. As much as we love spending time together, we realize it’s important for us to find time and space to do our own things. That’s the wisdom of almost six years of marriage talking. Not even a decade in, and here I am dispensing advice 😛

In the last year or so I have found myself forgoing my previous earring staple, the chandelier earring, in favor of more minimal options. These ear pins by Kat Kim are absolutely stunning. Dramatic but simple, and I’d love to get my hands on a few pairs.

I’ve always dreamed of having my own personalized fragrance, but it seemed to be a fairly pricey undertaking. I recently saw this post featuring Scent Trunk, and I am seriously considering giving them a try. I mean, for less than $20? Yes, please!

If there was a recipe book entitled “Food on Boards”, you can bet that it would be on my bookshelf. Okay in reality, it would be stacked on my coffee table, but you get the idea. I love the idea of communal plates for parties and entertaining since it’s a great way to get people to interact, and this Ultimate Caprese Salad Board is right on point.

I have been all about the rose embroidery trend you see popping up all over the place. I already bought a cute sundress, but I could probably get away with wearing this cute little number to the office with the right accessories.

Shout out to my fellow chubby girls: 32 Things Only Ladies With A Little Chubby Stomach Will Understand.

If you’re feeling a bit ambitious for regarding breakfast this weekend, allow me to suggest this Lavender Brioche French Toast. Then invite me over, I really want to try it, but I really don’t feel like making a loaf of bread just so I can. Just text me; I’ll bring mimosas.

It has been a week and then some at Casa Bucior. Andy had a horrible reaction to the antibiotics he was prescribed for his persistent cough, and we spent last Thursday and Friday night in the ER combating the horrible hives that broke out all over his body. He was housebound for the whole weekend as well as Monday and most of Tuesday. While I was juggling work and trying to care for my poor itchy hunny, I also managed to pick up some minor cold, so we’ve all been little rays of sunshine, let me tell you. Fortunately, we both seem to be on the mend, so my hopes for the weekend are a little higher than mere couch surfing. I might even get my shit together enough to go to the farmer’s market and do brunch. Ambitious, I know. What is on deck for your sultry summer weekend?

Love this sheer project by Buzz Feed’s Kristin Chirico. I am adding “sheer” to my list of fashion fears that I am going to force myself to try this year.

This warmer weather has me craving something fizzy, and these healthy soda recipes sound refreshing and inventive.

I haven’t been to a Tiki Bar since college, and after reading about this Chicago spot on the Sconnie Sling, I am thinking about trying to hit it up when I am there in August.

Enjoy the Unicorn trend the adult way, with cocktails!

With everything that is wrong with airlines today, this one decided to focus on what is truly important, the uniforms their stewardesses wear. I laugh, but they are gorgeous.

Normally, I am not a huge fan of grey clothing, but this sweet little embroidered t-shirt has me thinking it might be time to change my tune.

Spend the whole day in bed? Yes, please!

These cute fabric catch-alls are easy to make, and I think a set of varying sizes would be an excellent gift. The holidays are inching closer, I’m just saying.

I don’t talk about my day job a lot in this space because…well…it’s just a job. It isn’t a calling or a career. It’s something I do to contribute financially to our little family and help us afford to do the things. Without going to deeply into things, I found myself in a awkward position this morning. The receptionist for our building, which we share with another company, is out this week and I am covering for her. It has been a relatively smooth week, I’ve covered for her in the past, but this morning things got interesting. I’d been at the front for about an hour when one of the owners of the other company in the building comes to my desk to tell me that they’ve had some issues with a gentleman coming into one of their other offices looking for him. He has also apparently called this office multiple times and may be stopping by to try to force a meeting. I am supposed to hold the gentleman downstairs and notify his secretarial staff, and then they will decide whether or not to give this man the bush off because he seems as if he might be unstable. Umm, what?! Imma level with you guys real quick; they don’t pay me enough for this BS. There is a 90% chance that this will all blow over, but while I will play along for now if things go south, I am not willing to put myself in physical danger to stop someone from getting on the elevator. I will give them a warning as soon as that door closes, but seriously guys? So.. how is your Friday going?

I am having a serious case of design envy; if I had a bathroom this gorgeous, I’d refuse to leave the tub.

A friend of mine posted this tiara on my facebook wall and I can’t decide what I want to do more: buy it or make one of my own.

While I am loving my pinky purple hair, I am having to touch up the color a little more frequently, and my hair is getting a little unhealthy. Thinking about trying one of these natural conditioning treatments this weekend to give it a little TLC.

I have always been a fan of street art; I love it even more when it interacts with natural elements directly around it.

The idea of integrating tea breaks though out the day is intriguing, especially when the tea is selected for properties that are beneficial to your activity level or physical needs.

Wishing I had half the makeup skills of these amazing guys.

This instagram account is everything I’d love to be able to do with flat lays.

How cute is this free floral coloring page?

And the sun finally decided to show itself for a bit yesterday. Much to my coworkers elation. They were beginning to wonder if it would ever reappear, where as yours truly was happy as a clam in her dreary pasty girl world. There were fluffy blankets, kitty snuggles, and large mugs of tea; it was lovely. Now I am back to dramatically donning my oversized shades as I step outside as well as issuing the occasional vampiric hiss whenever the intense sunshine catches me off guard. Seriously, my boss jokingly opened my blinds the other day, and I may have grouchily inquired as to whether he was trying to make me burst into flames or not. Also, my window overlooks the scenic parking lot, and if anyone parts in front of it, I can’t see through the glare on my computer screen. He still has to come in every other month or so to prove to himself that what I am saying is in fact true, so I like to heckle him a bit for funsies. You gotta do what you can to keep things at your 9-5 interesting, right?

As a female who…well…glistens profusely in the summer months, I think these 7 products to help beat the heat are right on target.

Summer alfresco dining is always a good time, here are a few ideas to help inspire you.

I always have been, and probably always will be a big grilled cheese sandwich fan, and this garlic scape swiss chard number seems so delightfully green that I can almost tell myself it’s healthy.

With all that heat, cocktails and mocktails are essential for any gathering. Here are some simple syrups you can quickly whip up to elevate your beverage recipes.

I am all for trying out new things, and floral arranging and shoe making classes sound great, especially when you can start your lessons for free.

There hasn’t been a subscription box that I’ve really felt the need to indulge in for a while now, but this Enchantment Box is giving me that itch.

Lush introduced me to the wonderful world of bath bombs, and I’ve been a little obsessed ever since. This DIY option featuring coconut oil seems like it might be a fun alternative.

It’s supposed to be funny, but right now this is feeling a little to real.

It’s so close, guys! My feelings about the impending weekend are like when you’ve dropped something underneath the refrigerator or a low cabinet and you stretch out as far as you can with you fingers brushing the edge of the object, and if you could just stretch a scant 1/2 inch more, you’d have it. That is what today feels like to me. The responsible adult part of me is getting things done and the more childish part of me is straining in her seat. Not that I have anything particularly special planned this weekend, but I have had a very tedious responsibility laden week and I want to shake it off and be a little lazy and less structured for a few days. Who knows, maybe even a touch reckless. Okay, probably not reckless, but you know what I mean. Are you as ready for the weekend as I am?

File this experience  under #lifegoals, I think it would make any woman’s day.

Creativity is important, and according to this article, something as simple as doodling can lead to a better and more mentally agile you.

I am all for Inst-worthy treats, but these NYC locations take things to a whole new level.

These quick and easy shortcakes are the perfect accompaniment to all the lovely summer fruit that has been showing up in the produce section.

While I am usually more of a color girl, this sedate rustic farmhouse looks so lovely and serene.

In addition to the shoes I featured earlier this week, you can add these satin lovelies to my wish list.

Baking can be stressful and the ingredients can be temperamental, here are some tips and tricks to help you get a better handle on some baking do’s and don’ts.

This summer will see me (hopefully) taking a series of small trips. To help me up my packing game, I am going to try to implement these 10 suggestions.
