Floral Sunnies DIY

Now that we’ve reached the portion of the year where sunglasses are almost a mandatory part of every ensemble, it’s time for a little something special.  Sure there are plenty of options on the market, neon 80’s inspired numbers, glamorous over sized tortoise shell frames or the whimsical heart shaped glasses that my mom always kept on hand for her budding fashion disigner. Inspired by Dolce & Gabbana‘s Fall Collection, the ladies of Honestly…WTF have come up with the perfect summer counterpart for the headband they featured earlier this year.

What you’ll need:

Start by squeezing a small amount of E6000 into a disposable container or onto a wooden popsicle stick. I like to use a small amount at a time, as the glue tends to dry quickly. Using the tip of a toothpick, apply a dollop of glue onto the back of the largest ceramic flower.

Press the flower firmly onto the outer corner of the sunglasses. Hold it in place, for at least a minute, until the glue sets. Working along the top of the glasses, continue to add smaller flowers.

Add a few small flowers down the right side of the glasses. After most of the flowers have set, unfold the sunglasses and add a couple of larger flowers on the temples or arms.

Repeat on the other side and allow to dry for a couple of hours.

*Side Note – I know from experience that this glue has a very VERY strong smell. Make sure the area you work in is well ventilated. I would also give your newly decorated shades a few days to dry/air out after your done.

About Julie

My name is Julieanna Bucior, but I go by Julie (unless I'm in trouble). I'm thirty one. I am a bookkeeper by day, rogue fashion designer/crafter/amateur baker by night. I spend most of my time feeling like a kindergartner trapped inside an adult's body. I love reading, hanging out with my crazy cats and being silly. I'm pretty much the girl next door, with a twist.
