Currently: April


April is always a crazy month for me. Work, travel, spring cleaning. Here is what I am working on currently.

making – this month I am trying something new. Usually, I am a bit free form about my creative process; I make what I want when I want to make it. Baking one day, jewelry making another, I pretty much fly by the seat of my pants. The downside of this is when I am feeling a little blocked creatively things don’t get done. So this month I am participating in the Fall for DIY 30 Days to a More Creative You Challenge. The activities are only 10 minutes each, so if you don’t have time to do them every day you can save up and do them on the weekend. I am a little behind right now, but I am planning on catching up over the next few days.

wishlisting – shoes and sandals. I’ve had the misfortune of breaking/ripping/wearing out about four of my favorite pairs in the last month. That’s the problem with wearing the stuff that you love; it tends to be used up faster. Who knew?

cleaning – a lot of things actually, I am 5 days into my 30 days of minimalism. Each day you get rid of/donate a number of items that corresponds with the date: 4 items for the 4th, 5 items for the 5th, etc. I was sure I wouldn’t have any issues finding things until the middle of the month, but I am already having to “force” myself to get rid of things I don’t use. The bottle of hairspray I don’t like that has been under the sink for 6 months? I honestly thought, what happens if I run out of the kind I do like and I need it? The struggle is real.

posting – as regularly as I can. Tax season is drawing to a close, and the pressure is on at the office right now. I have been putting in extra hours here and there, and some days I am too tired to do more than stare blankly at the TV screen when I get home.

tasting – Indian food. Sadly, my favorite Indian place in town closed a few months ago, and Andy and I have really been missing our veggie korma. When my friend Stefanie was in town for my birthday, she and I tried one of the “newer” places in town, and while it isn’t quite the same, I have to say I am quickly becoming a huge fan.

What is going on in your life currently?

Currently: March


The love I have for the month of March only has the tiniest bit to do with it containing my birthday. March means cool crisp mornings, fresh flowers, and the last few reverent sips of seasonal hot beverages. Even with it being with out a doubt one of my busiest work months, I am so excited for what the next few weeks will bring. Here is what I am up to currently.

wishing – for a “good” big life change. The big 30 is only a few weeks away, and I am hoping that the next decade will hold lots of fun and new adventures. My world expanded so much in my 20’s, and I’d like for the trend to continue.  

craving – fresh berries. I don’t know why, but I want all of the berries. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries…all sound absolutely amazing. It’s even affecting my cooking. I am thinking about how delicious they would be in salad, garnishing baked goods or simmered down into a delicious sauce. The produce section at the grocery store is incredibly dangerous right now.

going – on some mini trips. This is one of those “finger crossed” things, but I am hoping to do a couple day trips with various friends over the next few weeks. Cave exploring in Marianna, shopping in Jacksonville, and giant tree hugging in Thomasville. All a little up in the air at the moment, but I am really hoping everything falls into place.

wearing – florals. Usually I am a basic black with a hint of jewel tone kind of girl, but I decided this year to infuse my wardrobe with some spring florals. It is a little strange, and I do feel a bit more conspicuous wearing more color, but I like the inherent “girliness” that comes along with it.

learning – about flavor pairing. My favorite local tea place is holding a tea and chocolate tasting class, and I convinced Andy to sign up for it with me. Date night with hot tea and chocolate? It’s going to be so much fun!

Currently – February


We’re already into the second month of 2016, and the time seems to be flying by. Here’s what I am doing Currently.

sending snail mail. Valentines Day is the perfect opportunity to send a little love to friends and family, and I have yet to meet a person who didn’t love getting something fun in the mail.

eating fresh fruits and veggies. The cooler weather has had us going for warm comfort food a lot lately, but in the past week, I’ve found myself really craving fresh food. I had a huge salad on Friday and Saturday, and I have a bag of grapes in the fridge that I just can’t seem to leave alone. I guess there are worse things I could be eating, right?

dreaming  about all of the traveling I want to do this year. Andy and I spend most of our vacation days visiting friends or family, which is wonderful, but this year we are going to carve out a couple of long weekends for just the two of us. Orlando this month and maybe Savannah in November.

smelling the sweet tea olive blossoms that are blooming outside my front and back door. There was a bush in the front yard of the house I grew up in and my mom loved it. Every time I smell it I think of her.

hearting my fur babies. We lost one of our babies a couple weeks ago, so I have been in snuggle overdrive with the others. They are eating it up. For the first few days they were content with the extra snuggle, but now they are making a play for snuggle AND treats. I’m just happy there are all happy and healthy enough to be manipulative and demanding.



It’s time for the November installment of Currently. Here are a few of the things I have been up to recently.Cup1

COOKING – Lots of apples. Apple butter, cinnamon apples, caramel apples, apple muffins, cakes, and breads. I love apple season, and I can’t seem to get enough of the crisp tart juicy perfection.

PLANNING – Our week long trip for Thanksgiving. We have quite the journey planned, Charlotte, Greensboro, Murphy, and then back to Tallahassee. Lots of driving so I am trying to come up with some great road trip tunes and snacks to make the hours (hopefully) fly by.

SMELLING – Cinnamon. It is my go-to Autumn scent, and I try to fill the house with it. Cinnamon brooms, scented pine cones, cinnamon infused baked goods…it is one of those scents that entices you to breathe deeply while it wraps you in warm cozy goodness.

APPRECIATING – What I have. With all of the fantastic holiday chaos, it’s easy to lose sight of the more subtle steadfast things in your life. I have a home (that will someday be beautiful), a job, and a husband who lets me know every day that he loves me, and some days it helps put other things in perspective. I have a wonderful life already, and everything else that comes my way is just an amazing bonus.

ANTICIPATING – All the friends and family I am going to get to see this month. I am going to get to meet the newest addition to my college roommate’s family, spending some pre-turkey day time with the in-laws, plus seeing my aunts, uncles, cousins and mom. It’s going to be hectic and crazy (as many holidays are), but I wouldn’t give it up for anything.

EATING | Apple cider doughnuts. Andy and I picked them up when we went on our recent apple picking adventure. They are crazy good, and we’ve been enjoying them for dessert with a hot mug of tea. Hooray for cooler weather!
EXPLORING | Local small towns. I have had some wonderful experiences taking mini trips to Monticello, FL and Thomasville, GA, and I know there have to be more amazing small towns within day tripping distance.
WEARING | The softest lounge pants in the world. I picked them up at Costco on a whim, and they are magical. Soft on the outside and even softer on the inside, they’re like wearing a warm cloud. You laugh, but I am completely serious.
ADMIRING | New blogging friends. I met some wonderful ladies at the Maiedae Mixer this past Sunday, and it has been amazing to see what incredible things these women are putting out into the world.
COLLECTING | Recipes, I want to make Christmas treat baskets for my family and friends this year, so I am trying to get a preliminary list together so I can do a test run before the holiday insanity hits.
