Being a Sparkle Princess
I’ve loved fashion for as long as I can remember. I was super prissy growing up and for a while having to wear jeans was a punishment my parents used to keep me in line. One of the saddest things about growing up is losing that sense of playfulness when it comes to what we wear. Largely, our wardrobe decisions are dictated by social media, magazines, movies/TV, and, in my case, what I can wedge my butt into. I’ve gone from tutus and glitter jelly shoes to black tank tops & yoga pants. Sure, I jazz it up from time to time with a flower crown, printed kimono or a pair of glitter sneakers, but largely, my wardrobe is three things: functional, black, and work appropriate. I am currently working on that, but it’s a bit daunting.
I was scrolling through my Instagram feed the other day when I saw this dress. Since the company it came from was tagged, I quickly made my way to their page and felt the kind of giddy princess-y elation I felt as a young child. While Chotronette might be a little out of my price range for day to day items, I can see myself indulging in a dress for a special event someday, and they make these gorgeous creations to measure!
What do you think? Does this brand make you want to play dress up? I might exchange the combat boots for glittery heels, or at least glittery combat boots 😉

Getting Ready to Sparkle
We are quickly moving towards the more glamorous part of the holiday season. Halloween is fun, Thanksgiving is comfy casual, but Christmas & New Years? Those holiday parties usually require a little something special. Now these Party Dresses by Free People may not be the most budget friendly option, but you definitely won’t have to worry about showing up in the same dress as someone else. Glitzy, Glamorous and Gorgeous.
Serious eye candy, but I will most likely be adding something like this to my closet about the same time as start making enough to allow Andy to be a house husband. He has already promised that if I figure out how to make him a “kept man” he’ll cook, clean and work out until he gets ripped like Hugh Jackson was in the Xmen movies. A girl’s gotta dream big right?
Party Dresses
Tis the season for holiday parties, work parties, family parties, friend parties…you get the idea. With Christmas only a little over a week away, shopping days are dwindling and calendars are filling up. Here are some of my favorite short parties dresses that will give you that little boost of “I look amazing” you need to have a truly awesome time.
Cute right? If you can’t tell I am a big fan of brocade and sparkle this season.

How Big Girls Dress Up
Much like boys with their toys, girls never really stop playing dress up; our dress up clothes, like the boy’s toys, just get more expensive. I am living proof: I spent many many hours clomping around the house in her mother’s high heels, and now I have a carefully curated collection of “fancy” shoes for special occasions. It’s a special kind of thrill to find some accessory or article of clothing that makes me feel just as pretty and sophisticated as I did when I dressed up for tea in five layers of necklaces, one of my mother’s slips and a droopy cartwheel hat festooned with roses. A tall order to be sure, but that’s why it is so amazing when you can recapture it. These elaborate necklaces by Dylanlex are so extravagant that I feel like they would make any woman feel like a princess (maybe even warrior princess?) again.
Seriously, when was the last time you saw something that gorgeous?
