For The Girl Who Loves Sparkle

Welcome to the first full week of December! This year I wanted to try something new to me, holiday gift guides. In fact, I have almost a whole week of them, each with a different theme. Maybe a little narcissistic on my part, but each list is inspired by a idea or hobby that holds a special place in my heart. I had an absolute blast making these and I hope you enjoy perusing the selections. To kick things off, one of the great fashion loves of my life: Sparkle. Very few things make me happy the way a little shimmer or glitter can. Rough morning? Put on a pair of sparkle shoes. Want to feel a little fancy? Swipe on some eye shimmer. Giving someone like me sparkle is like giving them happiness in a box. It’s a pick-me-up just waiting to be deployed.

Now I know many people like sparkle, but hate how glitter can get EVERYWHERE, so I tried to pick items that would have minimal glitter fallout. I hope you enjoyed my first gift guide and stay tuned to see what I have in store for the rest of the week.

A Little Holiday Sparkle For Your Feet

I’m trying so very hard not to jump the gun and go all out on the Christmas insanity. After all, I am not quite ready to bid farewell to fall in favor of a winter wonderland. The appeal of changing leaves and light layers cannot be denied. The internet, however, is trying to very hard to change my mind. Just the other day I was doing some online Christmas shopping and I found myself on the  Keds website, and I was so very tempted to forget those convictions and go ahead and buy myself my holiday sparkle sneakers, a tradition that I started in college. I mean, the Holiday Sparkle & Shine Collection is just so damn beautiful! How am I supposed to say no?

Usually I go for straight up glitter kicks, but the more subtle shimmer and gilded patterns are really speaking to me. Actually, not so much of a “no” as a “later”. Later, with the hope that maybe they have a sale between now and Christmas so I don’t have to feel guilty about the price tag. A little more than I usually invest for something that only get worn a few times a year, but it’s tradition, right?

Beautiful Baubles and Shay Mitchell

I am a notorious binge-watching fiend. Crappy week at the office, family drama, hormonal, and out of chocolate; whatever minor life drama I have can send me scurrying for my Netflix queue so I can disconnect for a bit. A while back, my program of choice was Pretty Little Liars, so I was delighted to discover that the new Guest Bartender at Bauble Bar was Shay Mitchell. Along with the collection being so many of the things I love in my jewelry (sparkle, globally inspired shapes, ethereal styling), it was like getting to see an old friend. Here are a few of my favorite pieces.

I even still have a few of my more elaborate ones saved in my jewelry box.bb1 bb2 bb3 bb10I mean, if there was ever a collection that could make a girl feel like royalty, it would be this one.  With so many glittering pieces, I find myself at a loss as to what to purchase first. I also find myself trying to come up with reasons why I might “need” this or that piece. I mean, the holidays are coming up, and there are going to be plenty of reasons that a girl might need a little extra sparkle. Right?
