Spooky Season Movie List

It’s officially Spooky Season! Happy October 1st my friends. It’s time to pull out the pumpkins, string up the cobwebs and fill your favorite Halloween themed mug (mine has black cats and pumpkins) with something seasonally appropriate. With the COVID numbers still being pretty high in my area, I have been reconfiguring some of my plans, and decided to pay a little extra attention to my watch list for October. It’s been a rough year, and I am really invested in going all in for the holidays this year. Starting with Halloween. So here we go:

  1. The Craft
  2. The Craft Legacy
  3. Practical Magic
  4. Sleepy Hallow
  5. The Adams Family
  6. The Adams Family Values
  7. Corpse Bride
  8. Casper
  9. The Haunting
  10. Interview With A Vampire
  11. Queen of the Damned
  12. Coraline
  13. The Village

14. An American Haunting
15. Labyrinth
16. The Mummy
17. Hellboy
18. Hellboy II
19. Night Teeth (New on Netflix)

22. Stardust
23. Beautiful Creatures*

24. The Witches of Eastwick*

*Movies I haven’t seen, but were recommended to me.

I’m not a huge fan of gory horror films so my list trends towards spooky, silly and magical. What is on your watch list for October?

My Halloween Movie List

We found out that Andy is going to be at a conference the week of Halloween, and that means that I have unfettered control of the TV so I am queuing up my Halloween Watchlist. Honestly, Andy would probably be okay with most of this, but this way I don’t have to feel bad about picking up take out and spending the evenings’ binge watching my favorite spooky movies. Actually they are more spooky-magic-y-ish than scary; I am a huge scaredy cat, and I can freak myself out very easily. Even when I’m not home alone. We watched the first Paranormal Activity, and I had nightmares for a week – poor Andy got punched in the face while I was flailing about one night. Anyway, here is my Top 20 Spooky-ish Movies.

  • Practical Magic

  • Sleepy Hollow

  • Nightmare Before Christmas

  • The Addams Family

  • The Craft

  • Pan’s Labyrinth

  • Casper

  • Corpse Bride

  • Edward Scissorhands

  • Stardust

  • The Haunting

  • Interview with a Vampire

  • Queen of the Damned

  • The Village

  • Van Helsing

  • Hellboy

  • Hellboy II

  • Coraline

  • Bettlejuice

  • The Sixth Sense

Honestly, I am really excited. I decided to participate a bit more in Halloween this year, and it has been completely worth it. I can’t believe I resisted for so long! What are the movies on your wishlist? Is there something only mildly scary I should be watching?
